Paper from trees - Close to the forest
Paper from paper - Close to the paper consumer

Our fiber strategy means that we use only forest fiber in our Swedish mills situated close to SCA's large forestry holdings. At our UK mill, close to London's many consumers of paper products, we use 100% recycled fiber, and at our mill in Laakirchen, Austria, which is situated close to both forestry resources and recycled fiber, we use a mixture of the two.

The large forest holdings provide access to top-quality spruce timber which enables Ortviken paper mill to base its paper production on fresh spruce pulpwood. The raw material is never more than three weeks old - from felling to mill. No other publication paper mill in the world can guarantee such high-quality raw material.

Laakichen paper mill uses a high proportion of recycled fiber in its production without compromising on product quality. Laakirchen was also one of the first paper producer to go over to exclusive use of totally chlorine-free kraft pulp.

Aylesford Newsprint uses 100% recycled fiber. The mill is located in a densely populated area with little forested land and was among the pioneers in developing the use of recovered paper as a raw material for newsprint production.
