Paper that runs smoothly through the printing press and that gives the perfect result is at the end of a long chain. It begins with the raw materials and continues through the whole production and distribution process. Unlike many other manufacturers of publication paper, SCA has full controll of the whole chain.

SCA benefits by using both sources of fiber and has over a long period integrated its environmental policy throughout the whole value chain is able today to demonstrate a unique environmental profile.

All SCA´s publication paper products are produced from pulp that is bleached without any use of chlorine chemicals (TCF).

Energy usage is based, to large degree, on biofuels and is primarly a combination of electricity and heating production.

Fiber Strategy
We produce FSC-certified coated paper and newsprint from fresh wood fiber at plants close to the extensive areas of forest owned by the company in Ortviken paper mill in northern Sweden.

We also take an interest in the future life of the fibre. Aylesford Newsprint, which has one of Europe´s most efficient paper machines bases its production on 100% recycled paper. Also in Laakirchen paper mill are we using recycled paper in the production process. 25% of the paper weight is recycled fibres. Close to the many consumers of paper in Europe, we produce paper from recycled raw materials and thereby contribute to the efficient management of resources.

Our environmental policy is that we shall manufacture our products in a way that continually reduces their impact on the environment. Conservation of resources will be our guiding principle. Our long-term goal is closed processes.
